I am often asked if I am a teacher and although I am, it is a common misconception to think that I am the only type of person who can homeschool.
You do not need any qualifications to
home educate your child. This is what I know about England anyway.
You do not even need to have any GCSEs, and this is because you do not need a qualification to have a child. From the moment your child is born you have been raising and teaching them and this continues as they grow.
'Is home education legal?'
ANSWER: YES!
Yes, in England home education is legal and is given the same rights as that of schools. It is important that home educators know their rights from the start which is from the Education Act 1996:
‘The parent of every child of compulsory school age shall cause him to receive efficient full time education suitable a) to his age ability and aptitude, and b) any special educational needs he may have, either by attendance at a school or otherwise.'
